Synopsis[]

The Chapter opens Coach Tatsuya Fukuda and Nozomi Date, discussing the recent tryouts and the only three players to be selected will be Ashito Aoi, Eisaku Ōtomo, and Sōichirō Tachibana. Nozomi consents to the latter two, but objects on selecting Ashito. He says that Ashito lacks certain skills that would prevent him from being part of Esperion's Offensive line but concedes that if Ashito continually improve in High School, he could possibly go Pro. Fukuda then interjects by saying what if they converted Ashito to the Defensive Line. Nozomi realizes that Ashito could actually work in the Defensive Unit, Fukuda tries to goad him to accept the idea, Nozomi says that Ashito as a person would refuse to accept it. Fukuda asks Nozomi to work with him so that they can tell Ashito to convert to the backline when the time is right.

Chapter 63 B Team reacts to Ashito switching to Defense

The B-Team reacts to Coach Nozomi's announcement of Ashito switching to Defense with varying levels of shock.

Back in the common area of the player dorms, the entire B-Team reads the special announcement from Nozomi of Ashito will be switching him to Defense and the entire Defensive Unit will teach Ashito basic movements until Tuesday. The entire team reacts with varying levels of shock. Ōtomo especially reacts to this change quite loudly as Ashito isn't even moving to Center Midfield or Defensive Midfield but all the way back to Defense. However, Keiji Togashi realizes that Ashito hasn't been back to the dorms after the match ended and pieces together that he must already know the news. He begins to walk out of the building to try to go to find Ashito. Tachibana, Ōtomo, Kanpei Kuroda and Jun Marchs Asari quickly follow behind Togashi as they all are worried about Ashito's whereabouts. As Nozomi watches the 5 leave the building from a window higher up in the dormitory, he thinks back to the meeting he, Fukuda, Jun Kase, Aki Tsukishima, and Daigo Benzen had one month ago during the inter B-Team match to determine who would be promoted to the A-Team.

(For any readers wondering, this meeting happened during Chapter 27)

During this meeting, Fukuda notices Ashito sitting outside the window of their meeting room and him overhearing that he will be playing as a FW. Fukuda then pulls Nozomi close and tells him about Ashito overhearing and asks him to fire Ashito up by calling out his ineffective qualities as a FW. He says that Ashito has a rebellious nature and it will be beneficial for Ashito to hear this so he has something to prove and improve as well. Back in the present day, Nozomi reflects on his past with Fukuda and remarks that everything Fukuda says, has come true. From his prediction of playing on Esperion for 3 years before going overseas to play in Europe among other things. The only thign that Fukuda has left in Nozomi's hands is convincing Ashito to switch Defense so infinite opportunities will open up for both. While Nozomi questions if he is doing the right thing. Assistant Coach Aki Tsukishima, hesitantly enters the room Nozomi is in and informs him that Ashito still hasn't returned and that the Dorm Mother is asking about him, Nozomi tells Tsukishima to tell the Dorm mother that Ashito is talking with him and need not worry.

Chapter 63 Hana finds Ashito on a Bus Stop and asks him to stop making those dead blank eyes.
