Well, it looks like football has snatched you for good... [1]

To Ashito Aoi after he opened his acceptance letter

Noriko Aoi ( (あお) () (のり) () ; Aoi Noriko) is a supporting character in the Ao Ashi series. She is the owner of the family-run store izakaya Yu-No, and the mother of Shun Aoi and Ashito Aoi. Currently, Noriko resides in Ehime with Shun Aoi while Ashito Aoi is away in Tokyo.

Appearance & Personality[]

Noriko is a middle aged women of average height and build. In her younger years, she had shoulder-length black hair with ends that protruded outwards, bangs that were held back with hair clips and she also wore green stud earrings. As a middle-aged woman, she is now seen with long black hair, hazel brown eyes, and red-rimmed glasses.

Noriko is a mysterious and reserved woman who rarely shows her vulnerability. Despite hardships, she built a life for herself and her family. Often she hesitated to buy sports gear for her kids and let them play in the tournaments, due to their financial issues. As a mother, Noriko wanted both of her sons to receive education, and she has been saving money for them separately over the years to cover their expenses, which went to their athletic careers. Although she has witnessed Ashito's failures more often than his successes, she supports him wholeheartedly, even if she finds his personality a bit extreme at times.

Noriko tends to come off as cold and distant, especially with her sons, though she is warm and enthusiastic with others, suggesting a complex dynamic within the Aoi family. One of Noriko's key beliefs is that children shouldn't be concerned about money, and she dislikes the idea of Ashito feeling the need to repay her financially for everything she has done for him.
