Outside, Coaches Fukuda and Date discuss the difficulties of integrating the First Years, especially the divide between Junior Youth graduates and Tryout Selections. Back in class, Kuroda encourages Ashito to continue, but Asari grows frustrated with Ashito’s focus on scoring and dismisses his chances of playing in the opening match. An argument ensues, with Ōtomo standing up for Ashito while Kuroda scolds Asari for being out of line. Later, Nozomi informs Ashito that he will start the match but warns that failure to address his teammates’ frustrations will result in him being benched for three months.
Synopsis[]
The chapter begins with Ashito Aoi telling Jun Marchs Asari, Kanpei Kuroda, and Ryūichi Takeshima his thought process during the last attack during the 11v21 match. As Yūma Motoki and Eisaku Ōtomo look on silently, the rest of the class chatter quietly (sans Keiji Togashi who is napping in his seat) as its only the first day and people are already fighting and they ask each other if the people who are fighting are on the Football Club.
The scene then cuts to outside of the school where Coaches Tatsuya Fukuda and Nozomi Date talk about the entire group of First Years and how they are going to take time to get along. Nozomi says that there are many players with strong personalities and how there is a clear divide between the Graduate players and their "elitist status" and the Tryout Selections who are more forthcoming with their way of playing. He says that the two groups have not been meshing well and all he wants is for them to cooperate. He then goes onto say that if it is okay to let Ashito go with such vague instructions and that they should give him more direct instruction. Fukuda shuts this down and says Nozomi is only trying to make things easier for himself and is not being an actual Coach. He says that Ashito needs to learn to think for himself and Nozomi says Fukuda's plan for Ashito better turn out the way he predicts. Fukuda says that Nozomi is free to make the lineup for the Opening Match and that Ashito will be fine even if he has to take a detour to find the answer.

Asari gets angrier and angrier at Ashito talking to Kuroda about his ideas during the 11v21 match and his obsession with scoring and tells him to stop.
Back at the Classroom, Kuroda perks up as he realizes that Ashito just wants to discuss Football and tells Ashito that he loves Football lectures himself. Ashito is taken aback as Kuroda walks up to him and hands Ashito the chalk and asks him to finish his ideas. Ashito goes over a few ideas he had during the match that all ends in him scoring. As Kuroda attentively watches, Asari gets angrier and angrier listening in on the conversation. Asari tells Ashito to stop and questions why all his ideas end up with him scoring. He says that Ashito should throw away his fixation on scoring goals with Kuroda agreeing with this idea. Ashito realizes that Asari and Kuroda may be mad at him for wanting to score and says that as a Forward, if he stops wanting to score goals, he should just give up on being a Forward. He goes onto say that he came to Esperion to become the Worlds Best Forward.

Ashito runs into Coach Nozomi and tells him that Ashito will be on the Starting Lineup for the Opening Match and if he cannot show Nozomi the answer to why Kuroda and Asari are mad at Ashito, he will be benched for the next 6 months.
Asari dismisses this by saying that Ashito will never play in the Opening Match next week. His reasoning is that there are two upperclassmen forwards in Kio Fujimiya and Shūto Kuwata and either way, there are two more first year forwards in Roan Mino and Sōichirō Tachibana so Ashito will be the 5th choice anyways. He then goes onto say that Ashito should not have even made it to the Youth Team while much more skilled Junior Youth players failed to make it to the Youth Team. This greatly incenses Ōtomo and confronts Asari. He says that Ashito is their teammate and fought for his position throughout the Tryout Exam and he says that if Asari can't live with his Junior Youth Teammates not making it to the Youth Team, he can cry Ōtomo a river. Asari and Ōtomo start screaming in each others faces as the Teacher walks in and demands for everyone to stop. Kuroda realizes that Togashi is staring at the scene from the back of the class and then tells Asari that he was out of line and to never say that again. Yūma laments that they will never manage during the opening game if they are like this.
At the end of the school day, Ashito walks back to the Esperion Clubhouse alone and ruminates on the entire argument during their first period class. He then runs into Coach Nozomi who tells Ashito that he will be in the starting lineup for the Opening Match but if he cannot prove to Coach Nozomi the answer for why Asari and Kuroda are mad at him, Nozomi will personally bench Ashito for the next 3 months so he should take this challenge as if his life depends on it.
