Ashito Aoi[]
Following Esperion's victory, Garulla is impressed with Ashito, even calling him a "Miracle Boy." He swiftly calls Ashito in for a meeting with Fukuda, Jun Kase, and the interpreter present. During the meeting, Garulla praises Ashito, calling him a kid that Fukuda treasures and saying that the team won thanks to him. In addition, he expresses his desire for Ashito to join the senior team's practice for three days. With the way he words the question, however, is a different story. It's a test. Garulla seems curious about what choice Ashito will make, implying that this isn't the first time he's put a young player in this position. He values players with resolve and wants to see if Ashito has what it takes. Ashito responds sharply, biting back that Garulla should have mentioned all of this from the start—further piquing the coach's interest.[1]
Over the next three days, Garulla watches Ashito's and Yūma's progress from the sidelines. His cold gaze becomes a silent motivator, pushing both players to keep learning and pushing themselves. It turns into an intense and transformative period of training. Even while striking a deal with the two, Garulla never once hesitated to make good on his word—he was ready to call up players who have the "It" factor, since the whole Esperion club benefits from the process.[2]
Their relationship is disciplined, professional, and rooted in mutual respect—shaped by ambition, challenge, and the pursuit of excellence, while remaining within the boundaries of reason.
