"Hana Ichijō (Part 1)" (
Summary[]
Hana Ichijō confronts her brother, Coach Fukuda, for forgetting the bento she made for him, while Fukuda prepares for a scrimmage where standout players can be promoted to the Youth A team. Ashito Aoi overhears Nozomi Date doubting his potential to succeed at Esperion, claiming he might never make it to the A team. Hana passionately defends Ashito, declaring herself his first fan before finding him outside and offering him the bento. The chapter concludes with Aki Tsukishima gathering the players to announce the lineup for the scrimmage.
Synopsis[]
The chapter begins with Hana Ichijō entering a meeting between Coach Tatsuya Fukuda, Jun Kase and Coach Nozomi Date. She yells at her big brother, Coach Fukuda, for not remembering that she was going to bring a specially made bento for him. Fukuda says that he already ate at the Welcome Ceremony banquet and Hana yells at him saying this is why he cannot find a wife. Jun Kase then says he was the reason Fukuda ate already and then requests if Hana can accompany the daughter of the Main sponsor of Esperion FC, Kaido Electric. Fukuda then remembers that the reason he called Hana in is to brag how Coach Nozomi Date saved and praised Fukuda during the Welcome Ceremony.
The scene switches to the Youth team warming up for their 7-a-side scrimmage. Back to the meeting, Fukuda reveals that the match will start in 20 minutes and those players who can perform extraoringarily will be promoted directly to the Youth A team. Nozomi is against this as the players have yet to familiarize themselves with each other but Fukuda says that the best way for players to learn about each other is through a game. Hana is miffed that this is the reason why Fukuda called her in and leaves sullenly saying that she is taking the lunch box she made for Fukuda. As she is leaving, she tells Fukuda to remember to come home sometimes because their mom misses him. Nozomi then asks about Fukuda's opinion on Ashito Aoi.
The scene switches to Ashito sitting outside the partially open window where the meeting is taking place and begins to eavesdrop when he hears his name. Sōichirō Tachibana then walks up to Ashito and asks why he is sitting here when he was the most eager to train. Ashito reveals that he just needed a breather and Tachibana reminds him that if they play well, they'll be brought up to A team right away. Tachibana then says that its natural that everyone get ready in the way they can like Yūma Motoki napping and Keiji Togashi still stuffing his face at the Dining Hall. Ashito says he's going to rest before the match and Tachibana goes back to the field to continue to warm up.
Back to the meeting, Nozomi asks Fukuda if he had a special idea to bring Ashito to Esperion. Fukuda reveals that he has no such plan and he expects Ashito to start on the B team and grind his way up through the levels. Nozomi then bluntly says that unless Ashito improves at an extraordinary pace, Ashito will never make to the pro league and goes onto double down and say that Ashito will never even make it to the A team either. He then says that Ashito will become Fukuda's first failure. Hana interjects with a "BOO!" scaring everyone in the meeting and blames it on a set of strange hiccups. Kase then asks why Nozomi thinks this way and Nozomi will see why in an actual match. Hana then says that it isn't nice for Nozomi to say that for a player that just joined Esperion. She then says that she is officially Ashito Aoi's fan and maybe the first one in the entire world. She ten leaves the meeting room but sees Ashito sitting directly outside. She yells at Ashito for sitting outside even though his match is about to start in a few minutes. Ashito then asks for the lunch box Hana made for Fukuda because Fukuda didn't eat it but Ashito will. As he devours the meal, he asks Hana why she is supporting Ashito so much.
Aki Tsukishima calls over the Youth Members and announces the lineups and formations
The chapter ends with Aki Tsukishima calling the players to huddle up and reveals the lineups for for the 7-a-side scrimmage.
