Main Story[]
Eita Takasugi first appeared in the tryout match as part of the Esperion's Youth team. Given that coach Tatsuya Fukuda shuffled the original positions of all his players, Takasugi played in the center-back position.[1]
He played in the friendly match between Esperion's Youth A-team and Tokyo Shūrin High, with a final result of 9-0 for Esperion.[2]
He participated in the joint training between team A and team B as part of team A-1, together with Enshin Akiyama, Kento Sugawara, Yutaka Yamada, Jun Marchs Asari, Yōichi Kiriki, Kanpei Kuroda, Masanori Baba and Yūma Motoki.[3]
He was with Kiriki, Akiyama, Taira Nakamura and Kenta Yoshitsune when Haruhisa Kuribayashi appeared after being called back by Fukuda to play for the youth team again. The group welcomed him.[4]
When Ashito Aoi, Kuroda, Eisaku Ōtomo and Keiji Togashi were promoted to team A, Takasugi was revealed to be part of the regulars[5], and he completed the training with ease when Ashito and Kuroda joined them.[6]
Takasugi was a starter against Kashiwa Dai Business High, playing as a forward.[7] Despite scoring no goals, his movements were key distractions for his teammates to score the first two goals (by Yoshitsune[8] and Yūma,[9] respectively). The final result was 3-0.[10] At the end of the match, he offered his help to Ashito, who was making his debut with the A-team.
Before the match against Tokyo Vans, Takasugi reprehended Nagisa Akutsu and Kiriki for being too indeferent towards the gap in talent between the regulars and the reserve players in team A.[11] Immediately after, Fukuda appeared and announced that Takasugi, Yoshitsune, Akutsu and Yamada had been summoned by the U-18 Japan national team to play several matches in Czech Republic.
In the concentration of the U-18 Japan national team, Takasugi and Yoshitsune had a strong argument with Akutsu because of his lack of respect towards his teammates, and they diagnosed that the origin of the problem was that Akutsu was ashamed of himself because of him being unable to be trascendent in the national team.[12]
When Taira Nakamura announced that he was going to retire after Funabashi Academy High's match, another argument between Takasugi and Akutsu arose due to Akutsu saying that Taira was pathetic and should retire immediately so that he is not a distraction for his teammates.[13] After that argument, Takasugi met with Kuribayashi, Kiriki and Akiyama to talk about Taira's retirement and the importance of wining against Funabashi to honour Taira.[14]
Takasugi was chosen to be the captain in the match against Funabashi.[15] Esperion implemented the five-lanes strategy successfully, and Takasugi managed to score a goal after Yūma's pass, but Takasugi was in offside position.[16] Immediately after, though, he scored a valid goal assisted by Tōji Kobayakawa, being it the first of the match.[17] After Funabashi's come-back with two goals scored by Trepone Rufin, and Ashito's red card, Takasugi mentally broke down, but after Akutsu's speech and Kuribayashi's enthusiasm, he regained some faith.[18] In the last moments of the match, he received a ball from Kuribayashi and assisted to Akutsu for the latter to score the last goal of the match, which ended up in 2-2[19]. After the match, Takasugi apologized to Taira for not being able to set up the appropriate conditions so that Taira could participate in the match, but Taira apologized back for putting such a burden on Takasugi.[20]. After that, Takasugi informed Akutsu that Fukuda and the rest of the players from his year had agreed that the captain of the team should be Akutsu and not Takasugi, due to Akutsu's mental strength, though Takasugi accepted the role of being the second captain to assist Akutsu in his lack of social skills.[21]
Two months later, Takasugi played in the eighth-final J-Youth Cup match against Iwata Allegrio. Esperion won that match (presumably 3-0, but the final result is not fully confirmed).[22] Takasugi also played against Ganon Osaka in the quarter finals of the J-Youth Cup. Esperion Youth lost 5-1, being Yūma the player who scored Esperion's only goal.[23] After an analysis of the defeat, Fukuda, Takasugi, Ashito, Yamada and Kyō Shimura talked to Akutsu and claim that he had lost the command of the defense.[24]
Takasugi was chosen as a starter against Aomori Seiran High.[25] At the beginning of the match, he had a chance to score but Eito Makimura exhibited a fast reaction and Takasugi could not shoot.[26] Soon after, Takasugi had a second chance to score but his shot was repelled by Makimura's save.[27] In the second half, he had a third chance after receiving a pass from Yamada and dribbling Renard Shō Moriyama, but Makimura stopped him again.[28] Later on in the game, Takasugi created an opportunity for Kiriki,[29] but he was stopped by Ren Kitano.[30] Esperion ended up wining 2-1.[31]
Takasugi played in the final of the Takamadonomiya Cup against Ganon Osaka[32] that Esperion won by 1-0.[33] This allowed Esperion to participate in the Alkass U-18 Cup in Qatar.
Takasugi was a starter in the first match of the Alkass Cup against Barcelona FC.[34] Due to the possession football practiced by Barcelona, Esperion chose to use high press. Fukuda chose Takasugi as the trigger to practice the high press, and David Obsidian, the less technical of Barcelona defenders, was the target.[35] The first time Takasugi commanded the high press, it failed, and Sino Ascari scored a goal for Barcelona.[36] It did work the second time, though, and Togashi stole the ball from Emmanuel Gato. The counterattack ended up in a goal from Kuribayashi, assisted by Kiriki.[37]
