Summary[]
With the second half underway, the Tryout team is more fired up than ever. However, with Akutsu stealing the ball the Youth begins to run circles around the Tryout team. When its time for a corner kick against the Tryout team, Ashito tracks the ball correctly and is about to head it out, but Akutsu also jumps up to challenge for it and seriously injures Ashito on the way down.
Synopsis[]
The chapter begins with Sōichirō Tachibana hyping up the rest of the Tryout team for the second half. Reinvigroated, the Tryout team lets out yells of excitement with Ashito Aoi screaming out a "Lets Go!." As Coach Tatsuya Fukuda looks on with a wide-eyed expression and the crows also notices that the Tryout team seem to be in higher spirits.
Even so, not all members of the Tryout team seem as excited as Junnosuke Nakano and Akinori Kaneda are stressing about not being able to become a pro and how they haven't been able to show their worth's respectively. As Ashito and the rest of the Tryout team walk back on to field to get ready for the second half, Ashito looks at Nagisa Akutsu remembers all the rude things Akutsu said to him and his family but this only fires Ashito up some more.
The Second Half kickoff starts with Ashito immediately getting the ball and dribbles down the field. Hana Ichijō is seen also looking over the game. As Ashito approaches the opposing defenders, he is then immediately shoved off the ball by Akutsu. Even though Ashito was sent flying, it was determined that the tackle was a shoulder charge and doesn't warrant a foul. In spite of that. Ashito had even Akutsu approaching and was ready for him to challenge for the ball but in the end Akutsu was so powerful, it felt like going against an iron wall.
The reporters in the crowd note that it seems the Youth team is not doing their one-touch passing which they did in the first half but rather sticking to simple plays. Even so, as Yūma Motoki he manages to sidestep Yonshiku Ri with a flip-flap and then skillfully leaps over Eisaku Ōtomo who attempted a slide tackle. Kaneda manages to backtrack and attempts to stop Yūma by pulling on his jersey. Akutsu sees this and makes himself open for Yūma to pass to. Ashito tries to slide tackle the ball away from Akutsu but Akutsu crosses teh ball to the other side of the field. The referee plays an advantadge to the Youth team.
Taira Nakamura attempts a shot on goal but is saved by the GK Fukatsu
As Kaneda sits down on the floor, he notices that the Coaching Assistants Aki Tsukishima and Daigo Benzen are writing notes, and they notice that Kaneda is the type of player who makes mistakes when they get flustered and is a hothead. In the mean time, the Youth team crosses the ball to the center of the Box and Taira Nakamura takes a shot but it is saved by Hōichi Fukatsu. The ball bounces out-of-bounds and it is a Corner Kick for the Youth team. Akutsu tries to Ashito trash again, Ashito responds in turn by saying that if the Youth team is actually this good, why didn't they try their fullest from the beginning. Once again, Akutsu tries to call Tryout team worthless, but Ashito, not one to take anything anymore from Akutsus responds that if this is probably how Akutsu made it through his own tryouts last year by talking smack.
Ashito runs towards his team who are setting up to defend the corner kick, and yells at them for looking so scared and tries to organize a defensive man-marking approach. He also says that he will score for the team no matter what and they just have to get him the ball. Inspired, Ōtomo, Tachibana and Nakano are all moved by this and each respond in turn trying to motivate the rest of the Tryout team. As the corner kick is taken, Ashito tracks the ball's movement correctly and jumps up to header the ball away. However, is Ashito's shock he sees that Akutsu is also jumping up to challenge for it.
Akutsu misses the ball and accidentally knocks his head into Ashito's. As they fall onto the ground, Akutsu's right hand also drives itself into the center of Ashito's chest. Ashito is down on the floor in pain as Coach Nozomi and Fukuda stand up in shock. As the referee yells at Akutsu, he says that he lost balance in mid-air and accidentally hurt Ashito. Ashito feels like he cant breathe and thinks that Akutsu didn't mean to hurt him like that. Even though Akutsu is apologizing and reaching out his hand to help him up, when Ashito finally turns around enough to make eye contact, he manages to see into Akutsu's face that he is smiling cruelly and that he indeed meant to hurt Ashito. Ashito takes Akutsu's hand and refuses to back down which pisses Akutsu off even more and causes Fukuda to look on in shock.
